Who We Are
Based
in Los Angeles, CA since 1989 with an office in Atlanta, GA and
Associates throughout the country,
award-winning television and corporate communications specialists, Thornton & Associates has years

in broadcast TV, film and corporate video including:
• Co-Creator / Producer of
several popular network series for FOX, MTV, DirecTV, ENCORE, STARZ and
SHOWTIME, and television production for NBC, CBS, ABC, WB, UPN, CNN,
HBO, E!, Lifetime, ESPN, Discovery, VH-1 and CMT.
• Corporate video projects for
such clients as; Disney, Coca-Cola, BP,
Apple, BMW, Wal-Mart, Target, Euromissile, PacSun, IBM, Merck,
Kimberly-Clark, AT&T, LA Times, 3M Warner Bros., Discovery
Channel, Ixia, Equifax, Burger King and Levi Strauss.

Fortune 500 company communications video, Thornton & Associates has a

Spencer
Thornton has had a successful career as a television
producer/director/writer and independent
consultant – the
last fourteen years under the banner of Shatter
Glass Productions.
Most recently, Thornton was recruited by executive producer Henry
Winkler to help update the Hollywood
Squares game show franchise by creating and producing an ongoing
series of “Behind the Scenes” segments with the stars to air three
times within every half-hour show.
He co-created and served as a producer/writer on the unplugged
music and adventure series Music in
High Places, which has aired since September 2000 on the MTV
networks, HDTV and DirecTV.
He has contributed in a similar capacity to dozens of network, cable
and syndicated television shows, including: Pump it
Up (Fox); Screenwriters on
Film (Encore/Starz/Showtime); Exoticom
and Direct Drive (Digital
Entertainment Network).
He has worked as a segment producer/director for such top-rated
networks as NBC, CBS, HBO, E! Entertainment Television, FOX, CMT,
VH-1and MTV and such hit shows as Entertainment
Tonight, The Oprah Winfrey
Show, CNN’s Showbiz Today,
and BET's Video
Soul, to name a few.
A pioneer in the music video world, Thornton has garnered several
awards for his work including an MTV Music Video Award. He has directed
both conceptual and live performance music videos for hundreds of
popular artists and groups, including the B-52s, Robert Palmer, Iggy
Pop, Joan Jett, The Go-Go’s, Billy Idol, James Brown, Elton John, INXS,
Def Leppard, Glen Frey, The Indigo Girls and the
Psychedelic Furs. He has taught workshops in music video and television
production for several schools and media arts organizations.
He has produced, directed and written commercials and corporate videos
for numerous companies, including such heavy hitters as Disney,
Wal-Mart, BP, PepsiCo, Warner Bros., Discovery Channel, Kimberly-Clark,
Reebok, Coca-Cola, Levi Strauss, AT&T, Apple, IBM, BMW, Lipton,
Electra Records, Jive Records, Bell South and more.
In feature film, Thornton served as head producer for Menace, an urban drama released in
2003 by Artisan Entertainment. Menace
claimed several film festival awards, including “Best Feature Film” at
the New York Independent Film & Video Festival and three others
during the prior year, including “Grand Jury Prize – Best Feature Film”
at the Narrowsburg, N.Y. Film Festival; “Closing Night Film” at the
Chicago Alternative Film Festival; and “Best Feature Film Drama” at the
Iowa Film Festival.
He helmed two TV documentaries for public television, From the Mouths
of Babes and Lost in America.
Thornton’s home video projects include Cooking With
Country Music Stars, which was honored with a Billboard Home
Video Award.
Thornton is an experienced editor and has served as a film and video
cameraman for ESPN, America’s Most
Wanted and A Current Affair
(FOX), Future Tense
(Discovery); Extra (NBC); Inside Sports (HBO) The Big
Picture (VH-1); The MacNeil
Lehrer Report (PBS); The
Mickey Mouse Club
(Disney Channel); The Crusaders
(Time-Warner); and Lifestyles of the
Rich and Famous, to name a few.
Other awards to his credit include recognition from regional news media
associations in both Atlanta and New York City.
Thornton graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A.
in radio/television/film. While there, two of his student
efforts, Walk on the Wild Side
and Boots each
were
honored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and garnered
top honors at festivals around the country.
